The Shelves started from my interest in libraries as places to read, study, work, and experience different cultures. During the process of making this blog, I realized that Jakarta has many interesting library spaces, but information about them is often spread across different platforms.
Some information can be found on official websites, while other details are shared through social media, articles, or visitor reviews. Because of that, readers may need to open many sources just to understand one place. This blog was created to make that process easier.
Here, you can find seven public libraries and cultural center libraries in Central and South Jakarta. Each article provides information about location, access, space, ambience, collections, facilities, programs, and visitor reviews. Through this blog, I hope you can discover libraries that suit your needs.
The name The Shelves was chosen because shelves are where different books, ideas, and stories are placed together. In a library, shelves help people find what they are looking for, but they can also lead them to something unexpected.
For this blog, The Shelves represents a space that gathers information about libraries in one place. Just like walking between library shelves, you can explore different places, discover new interests, and find something you need.

The Shelves was developed as my final project for the Diploma III English Program at Politeknik Negeri Bandung. Although this blog started as a final project, I hope it does not stop here. Libraries continue to grow, introduce new programs, and improve their spaces over time.
Because of that, I hope to keep updating the information so the content remains useful and relevant. I also hope to feature more libraries and cultural spaces in the future, so The Shelves can reach more readers and become a richer resource for anyone interested in exploring libraries.
As I continue learning, I hope this blog will continue to grow as well. There is always room to improve the writing, design, and overall experience, and I look forward to developing it further in the future.
